Start for Preschoolers (Ages
3 - 5)

closed for a holiday; please check NBMAA website or call Museum)
$3 per class members, $5 per class non-members; no charge
for caregivers, who must remain with the class. Drop-in
students welcome.
This program helps caregivers and young children discover art together in the Museum galleries. Listen to stories about art and then explore line, shape and color with Museum educators.

Saturday’s program led by Margaret Freedman – Ms. Freedman has a Masters degree in Elementary Education. She presently works at Wadsworth Athenaeum and here at New Britain Museum of American Art. She combines, with various artistic media, literacy and develops programs to enhance the child’s experience here at the Museum.
Art
Explorers (Ages 6 - 8)
10:30 a.m.–noon, Saturdays (except when Museum is closed for a holiday; please check NBMAA website or call Museum). Drop-in students are welcome.
$5 per class for members, $7 per class for non-members;
Scholarships are available. No charge for chaperones who
must remain in the building.
Students learn to express their creativity using varied art methods and materials to create personal works of art. New themes will be explored each month with different projects weekly.
Instructor:
Tom Gradante is a CT certified art educator and currently works with teens as an art teacher for the CRC system in Avon. In addition, Tom teaches classes for children, teens and adults at the Wadsworth Athenaeum in Hartford, the New Britain Museum of American Art, and the City of Hartford’s Youth Services Division. Mr. Gradante is a painter and sculptor and also the percussionist for New York-based psychedelic rock group Electrajet.
