Derived from the active creative process of Sanford Biggers’s aesthetic and cultural installation, the Museum is excited to host a Family Day that celebrates meditative movement and art making! Biggers practices art in a variety of mediums which engage subjects such as hip-hop, African-American history, Buddhism, politics, and identity. Join a beginner yoga class, led by local experienced yoga instructor Kelly Murphy, in the P.B. Stanley Gallery, adjacent to Biggers’s installation in the Batchelor Gallery. Enjoy a showcase and family workshop by Problemz Kru, a breakdancing crew founded in 1999 featuring internationally acclaimed dancers. In between scheduled programs, guests can enjoy the meditative art-making process of mandala coloring in the ArtLab or a drop-in sand art activity in our American Savings Foundation Art & Education Center!
