New Britain Symphony Orchestra presents "Klezmer!"
Sunday, March 11, 2018
New Britain Symphony Orchestra
Join the New Britain Symphony Orchestra at the Museum for a performance of Klezmer, a musical tradition of the Ashkenazi Jews of Eastern Europe. Originally, the genre consisted largely of dance and instrumental works for various celebrations, but after Jewish immigrants arrived in the United States between 1880 and 1924, it blended with American jazz and evolved into something uniquely American.
The New Britain Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1948 by Dr. Etzel Willhoit of the former Teacher’s College, now Central Connecticut State University, making this concert season their 68th year. Consisting of approximately 62 members, it is their fourth year under the baton Maestro Ertan Seyyar Sener.
