Museum After Dark
Surrealist Museum After Dark
Friday, June 17, 2016
Join us on Friday, June 17 for a ’surreal’ Museum After Dark! Inspired by our current exhibition, Cycle of Life in Print: Salvador Dalí and based on Baroness Marie-Hélène de Rothschild’s infamous odd-ball dinner party ’Dîner de Têtes Surréaliste’ in 1972 (featuring Dalí as a guest, along with other fabulous people such as Audrey Hepburn and other members of high Parisian society), this immersive party will bring you to a time and place beyond your wildest imaginations. Enjoy a drink with friends, explore our galleries and special exhibitions, dance to local musicians and DJs, and unwind in a creative environment!
Admission includes entrance to our galleries and special exhibitions, music, light snacks, beer, and wine. Tickets can be purchased online (link below) through June 10 or by contacting the Front Desk at (860) 229-0257, ext. 210. Tickets purchased online will not be mailed, the Front Desk will have your name along with number of guests.
Guests can enjoy tracks spun by DJ Cajar, live music from Phemale, Gratified, and Crawl Space, and a performance from artist Kim Mikenis.
Food will be available for purchase from Agave Canteen
Tainted Inc., a Hartford-based beauty collective and creative studio, create walking works of art by dressing models and dancers with over-the-top couture makeup, headdresses, and costumes. Join in on the fun as they face-paint guests with their makeup, transforming you into a surreal ’masterpiece.’ Participate in a drop-in, self-guided art activity and create an exquisite corpse, a collective art-making technique created by the surrealists.
Surrealist headwear and costume are strongly suggested. Costumes and headwear cannot exceed 12 x 12 in. We will have a DIY Surrealist headwear station where you can make your own!
$5 cocktails, cash only
