This September the NBMAA will take a group to one of the most exciting and beautiful hot spots of the world; Croatia. Homeland of Marco Polo and honeymoon destination of Agatha Christie, Lord Byron called it “Pearl of the Adriatic” and George Bernard Shaw “Paradise on Earth.” Croatia offers the perfect blend of history, cultural and natural treasures, ancient attractions (like the UNESCO protected Diocletian’s Palace) and food and wine.

Join Linda Mare, NBMAA’s award winning Director of Education as she leads our visits to World Heritage sites in Dubrovnik, Split, Trogir, Zagreb and Ljubljana. Visit/tour several museums, including the Mestrovic Museum, the Museum of Arts & Crafts, Mimara Museum and the Naïve Art Museum in Croatia and the National Gallery and Modern Art Museum in Slovenia. Stroll the streets, learn about the architecture and gardens of these ancient cities and towns and marvel at the beauty of the Plitvice Lakes and explore the Caves of Postojna. Belgium by Barge: Exploring THE FLEMISH MASTERS
September 19 - 28, 2014

Take a trip from Bruge to Brussels aboard the Angeline and get a full sense of the rich history and the many pleasures of Belgium. Discover the roots of Flemish art as you trace the history of the Flemish Primitives and Flemish Baroque painters and learn about the lives these masters led. Travel between Cathedrals and Museums while viewing masterpiece art by the van Eyck brothers and Flemish Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens.

The Angeline has two sundecks with awnings, tables and chairs, a sitting lounge and dining area and 14 twin-bedded cabins (each with private bath). which are all located on the lower deck of the barge. It moves only during the day and is docked to welcome us each afternoon. Breakfast and dinner are taken on board.
