Learning from Mr. Sendak
Thursday, Dec. 12

We all read it as children, but what can we learn from Where the Wild Things Are, and the entire oeuvre of Maurice Sendak? Join Museum staff and docents for an evening of learning centered upon our current special exhibit Maurice Sendak. Hear how various grade levels can engage with Sendak, both at the Museum and in your classroom. Then, join a docent-led tour of the exhibit that will delve into the historical context and artistic influences that shaped his timeless work. Everyone who attends will receive a Teacher Support Kit designed specially for the exhibit. Stay to socialize with fellow educators at Art Happy Hour, which includes drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and a lecture by exhibit director Steve Brezzo, “Where the Wild Thing Was,” at 6 p.m. Preregister for the open house by contacting Katy Matsuzaki, Coordinator of School & Family Programs, at (860) 229-0257, ext. 220 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
