Community Day: Birthday Celebration and James Prosek Book Reading
Sunday, April 6, 2014
noon-5 p.m.
Free for Everyone
Join us as we celebrate the Museum’s 111th birthday with free admission for all, and festive activities throughout the afternoon. From 1 to 4 p.m., Museum educators will provide hands-on art activities inspired by the work of James Prosek. Try out the traditional art of Japanese gyotaku fish printing, decorate a scale for our massive Studio Sea Bass, and design an artful lure or fly charm. At 3 and 3:30 p.m., James Prosek will read from his children’s books, Bird, Butterfly, Eel and A Good Day’s Fishing in the Stanley Works Center. Stick around to meet the artist, and don’t forget to sign the Museum’s birthday card before you leave!
