Community Day: Holiday Party with The Nutcracker Ballet
Sunday, Dec. 14
noon-5 p.m.

Get yourself into the holiday spirit with a fun, festive, and FREE Community Day! The Museum has partnered with the Ballet Theatre Company of West Hartford to offer performances and activities for visitors of all ages. Catch a sneak peek of their magical production of The Nutcracker, which puts a modern and moving twist on this holiday favorite, as they perform excerpts throughout the afternoon in the Stanley Works Center. In between performances, meet members of the Company who will roam the galleries as “dancer docents”—watch them interpret their favorite artworks in dance, and hear more about the paintings that quite literally “move” them! Museum educators will provide free drop-in art activities all afternoon—stop in the Lobby to create a snowflake ballerina, and pop into the ArtLab to make your very own nutcracker ornament out of clothespins and various embellishments. Don’t miss our annual Kwanzaa tasting, prepared and presented by the Museum's African American Advisory Committee. Take a break from your holiday rush and treat yourself to a beautiful day of art, dance, and delicious food!
