Fun for all ages!
Community Days are all-day events that celebrate special occasions and holidays with free admission, musical performances, art activities, film screenings and special exhibitions. These events include our annual Holiday party every December, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Black History Month in February, and the Museum’s birthday in April. Activity schedules vary by event so please check below to see what will be offered at our next Community Day!

Happy Birthday NBMAA!
Saturday, Apr. 4, 2015
Free Museum admission, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Self-guided activities, 1-4 p.m. or while supplies last
This year marks the 112th birthday of the Museum and you’re invited to the party! Come and celebrate with festive self-guided activities, and free admission for all. Participate in a giant “birthday cake” collage in the art studio where you don’t have to be a baker to tape, glue, and draw to participate. While the cake is not edible, the Museum will have cupcakes for sale! Stop by the DIY cupcake collar station and dress your cupcake in fantastic fashions before eating it. The ArtLab will also be packed with activities where you can play dress up, take a breather in the reading nook, and try out exhibit-inspired art projects. See the Front Desk for a free copy of our bilingual family gallery guide, Art Elements.
