Family Programs at The New Britain Museum of American Art introduce children and adults to the varied world of art through guided tours, art workshops, events, and various activities in our American Savings Foundation Art Studio. Programs provide an approach to looking at and talking about art that enable people of all ages and levels of experience to enjoy art together. Please refer to our list of scheduled activities.

Art Adventures - Looking for something fun to do with the family over school vacation? Get out and explore some of the best family programs Connecticut has to offer! Each session features new art activities ranging from fiber arts to painting to collage.

Art Explorers - Students learn to express their creativity using varied art methods and materials to create personal works of art. New themes will be explored each month with different projects weekly.

Art Start - This program helps caregivers and young children discover art together in the Museum galleries.

Studio@4 - Work with Museum educators and guest artists to learn about art materials, processes and production while getting a behind-the-scenes look at Museum pieces.

Youth Drawing 101 - Youth Drawing 101 is for young artists looking to hone their drawing skills while learning about the history and practice of art. Classes will often take place in the galleries with students working directly from the NBMAA’s collection to strengthen critical thinking and observational skills.

Community Days - Community Days are all-day events that celebrate special occasions and holidays with free admission, musical performances, art activities, film screenings and special exhibitions.

Family Days - From kids to grandparents, Family Days are special events for everyone to enjoy together. Family Days include programs featuring special exhibitions, readings and book signings with authors and artists, musical performances and art activities to encourage creativity for all ages!

Art Lab - The Landers House now includes an ArtLab for families on the first floor of the building, complete with hands-on art projects that can be pursued independently by visitors.

Birthday Parties - Give your loved one the gift of art. Host your child’s birthday party at the New Britain Museum of American Art! Enjoy time with friends and family while discovering American art, exercising creative thinking skills and creating works of art.
