Happy Birthday NBMAA!

Celebrate the NBMAA’s birthday with a special Community Day! For this momentous anniversary, we invite families to explore the Museum, and learn about our collections in an immersive and hands-on way.

At 1 p.m., join our knowledgeable docents for a Gallery Talk focusing on Louise Jones’s mural, Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, which features Connecticut-native plants and flowers. Then at 2 p.m., watch the Hartford Ballet Theatre Company create art through motion, as they perform excerpts from Sleeping Beauty.

Throughout the day children and families can participate in drop-in art activities. In the American Savings Foundation Art & Education Center, art studio participants can craft their own Georgia O’Keeffe-inspired paper flowers. Explore the Museum’s expansive permanent collection to discover the locations of the Art Carts where even more hands-on activities await.
