ABOUT THE EVENT

[email protected] | Mastering the Silhouette

 —

This month, students will take inspiration from our current exhibition Kara Walker: Harper’s Pictorial History of the Civil War (Annotated) to learn about shadowy silhouettes as an art form.

First, participants will learn about the origins of silhouettes, as well as their historical and contemporary uses. Then, in our American Savings Foundation Art & Education Center Studios, teaching artist Robin McCahill will guide students as they create their own narratives with shadow cut-outs, puppets, and overhead projectors.
