Andy Warhol to Sally Mann: The Collection of Kevin McNamara and Craig Nowak

A brilliant selection of prints and photographs by innovative artists such as Alexander Calder, John Baldessari, and Jock Sturges will show in the Davis Gallery; from the collection of Kensington residents Kevin McNamara and Craig Nowak. The prints in this collection illustrate the shift in 
imagery that occurred in the 1960s and 70s, with iconic swirling compositions by Alexander Calder (1898–1976), 
faces obscured by saturated color in the work of John Baldessari (b. 1931), and Andy Warhol’s (1928–1967) ubiquitously pop Flowers (1970). The photographs in this collection present a more austere look into controversial portraits and private moments. Sally Mann (b. 1951) and Jock Sturges 
(b. 1947) provide an intimate view into the lives of adolescents and their families, while John Dugdale’s 
(b. 1960) Farmhouse Inverted in Mark Isaacson’s Venini Vase creates the image of an individual merely through a play upon imagery and anthropomorphic suggestion. Simultaneously bold, inventive, and introspective, the works in this exhibition respond to the question of what it means to be an artist in a modern world.
