Robert Colescott Bio

Robert H. Colescott (1925-2009) is known for his satirical paintings that explore political, social, and historical reflections on being African American. Colscott’s work is in the collections of many major museums and galleries, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
