GIRL SCOUT PROGRAMS
Our Girl Scout programs are designed to engage and inspire creativity through a variety of hands-on activities that directly fulfill badge requirements. All materials are included.
Painting Badge (Brownies)
Badge Goal: “When I’ve earned this badge, I’ll have new ideas about what to paint-and how to paint it.”
Beginning with an interactive gallery tour, Brownies will learn about a variety of painting techniques and styles used by artists in our collection. The girls will then create their own painted masterpieces in the art studio, focusing on one or more of the Girl Scout painting themes.
Drawing Badge (Junior Girl Scouts)
Badge Goal: “When I’ve earned this badge, I’ll know some great drawing techniques.”
To expand their understanding of drawing, Junior Girl Scouts will explore the galleries with a Museum docent, concentrating on shading and perspective. The girls will then visit the studio to experiment with different materials and practice these techniques in their own drawings.
Collage Badge (Senior Girl Scouts)
Badge Goal: “When I’ve earned this badge, I’ll know how to create collages using different materials and color themes.”
Senior Girl Scouts will begin their visit with a guided tour focused on various elements of collage, including composition, color, media, and message. Using artworks from our permanent collection as inspiration, girls will then create their own collages in the art studio.
BOY SCOUT PROGRAMS
Art Badge (Boy Scouts – any level)
Badge Goal: To understand different forms art can take and its importance in society.
Boy Scouts will explore the galleries with a docent, learning about various developments of different styles of art throughout history. Then, they will head to the studio to reinforce knowledge of the elements of art and design. Boy Scout troops can expect the same studio lesson as the corresponding Girl Scout age group.
