Jaune Quick-To-See Smith Bio
Jaune Quick-To-See Smith (b. 1940) is an artist, curator, educator, and political activist. An enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Smith is also of Métis and Shoshone descent. Since the 1970s, Smith has created abstract paintings and lithographs that combine text and image. Drawing from a Native worldview, her work comments on American Indian identity, histories of oppression, and environmental issues.
